JANUARY

  • 1 — A son (Henry, Duke of Cornwall) is born to Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon; he dies seven weeks later (1511)
  • 5 — Mary I loses England’s last bit of land in France, Calais (1558)
  • 6 — Henry VIII marries Wife 4: Anne of Cleves (1540)
  • 7 — Catherine of Aragon dies, probably of an unspecified cancer (1536)
  • 15 — Elizabeth I’s coronation (1559)
  • 18 — Henry VII marries Elizabeth of York (1486)
  • 22 — Execution of Edward Seymour (1552)
  • 25 — Henry VIII marries Wife 2: Anne Boleyn in a secret ceremony (1533)
  • 28 — The future Henry VII is born (1457) and Henry VIII dies of an undetermined cause (1547)

FEBRUARY

  • 7 — Thomas More is born (1478)
  • 8 — Execution of Mary Queen of Scots (1587)
  • 10 — Katherine Howard is imprisoned (1542) and Lord Darnley (husband of Mary Queen of Scots) is murdered (1567)
  • 11 — Elizabeth of York is born (1466). This is also her deathdate, probably due to puerperal fever, a week after her eighth child was born (1503)
  • 12 — Execution of Lady Jane Grey (1554)
  • 13 — Execution of Katherine Howard & Jane Boleyn [Viscountess Rochford] (1542)
  • 18 — The future Mary I is born to Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon (1516)

MARCH

  • 3 — Princess Mary, new widow of Louis XII, secretly marries Charles Brandon (1515)
  • 18 — Princess Mary is born to Henry VII and Elizabeth of York (1496)
  • 20 — Execution of Thomas Seymour (1549)
  • 24 — Elizabeth I dies, possibly due to organ failure, pnuemonia, or lead poisoning from her pasty white makeup (1603)

APRIL

  • 2 — Prince Arthur dies, probably of tuberculosis or sweating sickness, leaving Catherine of Aragon a widow (1502)
  • 6 — Sir Francis Walsingham dies of an undetermined cause after years of ill health (1590)
  • 21 — Henry VII dies, possibly of tuberculosis, & the reign of Henry VIII begins (1509)
  • 28 — Elizabeth I’s funeral and burial (1603)

MAY

  • 19 — Execution of Anne Boleyn (1536)
  • 27 — Execution of Margaret Pole (1541)
  • 30 — Henry VIII marries Wife 3: Jane Seymour (1536)

JUNE

  • 11 —  Henry VIII marries Wife 1: Catherine of Aragon (1509)
  • 15 — Bessie Blout gives birth to Henry VIII’s bastard son Henry Fitzroy (1519)
  • 24 — Henry VIII’s coronation; Catherine of Aragon is crowned as queen consort (1509)
  • 28 — The future Henry VIII is born to Henry VII and Elizabeth of York (1491)
  • 29 — Margaret Beaufort, grandmother of Henry VIII, dies, probably from being nearly 70 years old in that day and age (1509)

JULY

  • 2 — Thomas Cranmer is born (1489)
  • 6 — The boy king Edward VI dies, probably of tuberculosis (1553)
  • 9 — The marriage between Henry VIII and Anne of Cleves is annulled (1540)
  • 12 — Henry VIII marries Wife 6: Catherine Parr (1543)
  • 16 –Execution of Anne Askew by burning (1546)
  • 19 — Mary I is proclaimed queen (1553)
  • 22/23 — Henry Fitzroy, bastard son of Henry VIII and Bessie Blount, dies, probably of tuberculosis or plague (1536)
  • 25 — Mary I marries Philip II of Spain (1554)
  • 28 — Execution of Thomas Cromwell (1540) and Henry VIII marries Wife 5: Catherine Howard (1540 also)

AUGUST

  • 8 — Princess Margaret marries James IV of Scotland (1503)
  • 9 —  Elizabeth I gives speech to troops at Tillbury (“I have the body but of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king”) (1588)
  • 22 — Henry Tudor kills Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field & is now Henry VII (1485) and Charles Brandon dies unexpectedly of an undetermined cause (1545)

SEPTEMBER

  • 7 — The future Elizabeth I is born to Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn (1533)
  • 8 — Amy Robsart, wife of Elizabeth I fave Robert Dudley, is found dead at the foot of a flight of stairs (1560)
  • 20 — Prince Arthur Tudor is born to Henry VII and Elizabeth of York (1486)

OCTOBER

  • 9 — Princess Mary (Henry VIII’s sister, not his daughter!) marries Louis XII of France (1514)
  • 12 — The future Edward VI is born to Henry VIII and Jane Seymour (1537)
  • 24 — Jane Seymour dies, probably of puerpural fever (1537)

NOVEMBER

  • 14 — Prince Arthur marries Catherine of Aragon (1501)
  • 17 — Mary I dies, probably of uterine or ovarian cancer, & the reign of Elizabeth I begins (1558)
  • 29 — Princess Margaret is born to Henry VII and Elizabeth of York (1489) and Cardinal Thomas Wolsey dies of an undetermined cause (1530)

DECEMBER

  • 8 — Mary Queen of Scots is born to James V and Mary de Guise (1582) …I am proud to share her birthday! =)
  • 14 — James V of Scotland dies, possibly from the stress of having been defeated in battle, & the reign of his daughter Mary Queen of Scots begins (1542)
  • 16 — Catherine of Aragon is born to Ferdinand II and Isabella I (1485)
  • 23 — Henry VIII’s last speech to Parliament (1546)
